Carradale
"It should be illegal to have views
such as this at the 1st hole"
- Tom Cullen, Mainland Argyll Golf Trail, 1996
Carradale boasts a stunning, challenging 9 hole
golf course, suitable for all levels or player situated directly
adjacent to our hotel. The hotel offers guests a reduced green fee
rate of 20%, golf clubs and trolleys can be hired and non-golfers
are welcome to walk around the course free of charge.
The views unfold in front of you as you play the
course, with the hills of the central spine of Kintyre rising from
the 1st tee. However, the 1st green is just staggering. Arguably
the best panoramic view in the area, the western side of Arran rises
from the sea and you can see far north towards Tarbert, and far south
toward Campbeltown, with Ailsa Craig standing proud in the Kilbrannan
Sound and the Ayshire coast providing a backdrop, it is breathtaking.
And all this just minutes after changing into your spikes!
The course is well maintained by a full time greenkeeper,
who can be found there on a daily basis. There are intricate and
fascinating golfing challenges to be found on the course, with tight
fairways, small greens and sporting ground, and all with the most
heavenly backdrop.
